What Webcam Site is Right for You?

woman-wearing-tank-top-sitting-by-the-window-920381

Before I get into the nitty gritty, I want to let you know that California recently changed a law that requires a lot of companies to forgo hiring models as independent contractors and instead enforce them to hire models as employees. For that reason, Streamate is no longer accepting models from California (unless you sign up with through studio which takes 10%). I do not know how other cam sites are handling this new law, so be aware if you are in California things might be a bit fucky.

So, camming! I have to preface this by saying that although I have used all of these sites (unless otherwise noted), I haven’t cammed often for a few years. If someone finds my info inaccurate/out of date, do let me know!

There are three main ways to stream your titties for cash. The first and probably most common way is to cam on a company’s website. These are sites like Chaturbate, Streamate, CamSoda, etc. Some of these sites follow a tip based model, and some a pay-per-minute based model, also known as “freemium” and “premium”. Or, you could use Skype and sell skype sessions directly to your followers. A third method is to use a site that lists your Skype profile to get you more traffic. These sites do take a percentage of the cash for their efforts.

Chaturbate

Chaturbate was the second website I ever used as a sex worker (the first is so bad it isn’t even worth mentioning, lol). It is a tip based model, which means that your show is broadcasted freely on their website to all who click on your photo. You will have a larger audience than premium sites, but not everyone will tip you. You can create goals that your audience will tip for, with the ultimate goals generally being getting you fully naked and masturbating. Freemium sites like CB are very social, and your hours on the site that day will basically be a “show”. It might start off mostly goofy and teasing, and only be super explicit for the last 30 minutes of a 4 hour shift.

This is the point where I will say that I ultimately moved on from tip-based sites and found a lot more comfort in pay-per-minute camming. So this write up will be biased that way, full disclosure. As an introvert, freemium websites like MyFreeCams and Chaturbate demanded too much performing to be successful. I spent a lot of time feeling like a dancing monkey, and way too much time catering to the emotions of clingy men who felt like they knew just how much to tip (in the beginning) to make me feel pressured to listen to their daily rants and woes. Wanting my sex work to be SEX work I eventually moved to a premium based model.

Shortly after I left Chaturbate they made a lot of changes, allowing all kinds of new and fun apps that encourage people to tip for various things. Some where people can tip to essentially gamble and win whatever prizes you put forth, some apps change the text of the high tipper a certain color, etc. There are so many options. As I haven’t used this website in a long time, I am not an expert on it at this point.

On Chaturbate, you will have way, way more non-tippers viewing your feed than tippers. I believe this is because of their successful advertising. In any case, this could be a draw back if you are hoping to keep this side of your life private, or a boon if you are trying to advertise yourself to the most amount of people possible. This is because CB is very outside link friendly. You can link to your twitter, your OnlyFans, amazon wishlist, etc. The last time I browsed the site I was amazed at the outside links girls were promoting.

You also have the option of doing a 1 on 1 or group private show. I believe you can charge per minute for the private, while the group show people pay a one time fee to join. It’s nice to have the option to put things behind a pay wall, but you have to be sure that you have enough people willing to join the group show to make it worth it to put that pay wall up. Doing so could also break up the energy of the room as you will lose a lot of viewers.

In general, the vibe of the site when I cammed there was fairly laid back, compared to MyFreeCams, another freemium site. CB also allows couples, solo men, and trans models. On CB you get paid about 60% of what the customers spend (it depends because there are token packages at different prices). Every token someone tips you will always be 5 cents on your end.

MyFreeCams

MFC is also a freemium website. When I cammed there, it had a good deal less traffic than Chaturbate. The main differences between MFC and Chaturbate are that MFC’s website is pretty clunky and last I checked, didn’t have cool apps to encourage tipping like CB. In my experience, the earning potential is higher on Myfreecams, but it is an extremely competitive platform. In order to build up your regulars you’ll need to spend many consistent hours online. On freemium sites, you might make $400 one night, and $9.50 the next night. And the night you make $9.50 might be your birthday, which you have planned an awesome show for, and hyped your followers up for weeks about. It’s the cruel nature of the beast. MFC doesn’t allow men to cam on the site (solo or couple), and they are transphobic as well, only allowing trans women on if they have had bottom surgery.

Like Chaturbate, you can offer privates, which charge per minute automatically, and I believe group shows too. But again, if you take your room private, you lose the social flow of your room as most of your viewers will find something else to do or someone else to watch. Freemium sites are just as much about social entertainment as that are about sex work, so taking privates often, especially at popular times of the day/night, can work heavily against you in the medium and long term. Also like Chaturbate, all tokens you receive are worth 5 cents, and you can get paid twice a month.

Because MFC can be so competitive and the volume of traffic is lower, I would advice all models who want to start out camming on a freemium platform to start on Chaturbate first. When you sign up on MFC you get a bit of a traffic boost as a new model, and it would be a shame to waste it while you are still acclimating to web camming in general.

Streamate

Streamate is a premium style website. You set your per minute rates for privates and exclusives. When customers click on your room, they will see you sitting there. This area is call free chat. You are allowed to be topless, but not to show your pussy. Most models wear lingerie and are strategic about not showing their nipples too much if at all. In free chat clients can chat with you a little, but entertainment isn’t the point of the site. They might ask you a question, if you are into a specific fetish or what-not and then take you private.

In private, clients are charged per minute to see you masturbate, or maybe to do a roleplay, JOI, etc. Multiple people can watch you at one time in a private, so often models will set rules for what kind of shows they are willing to do in privates. I think I told people I would only do certain fetishes and use their name in exclusive. You can make a pretty penny by having multiple people watch you in private as you are getting paid per minute by each one of them. Exclusive means that only one person can watch you, so usually models price that at a higher rate. Premium sites are generally more consistent with how much you make, of course there will be fluctuations, but in general Streamate is much more consistent than MFC or Chaturbate.

On Streamate you can also do something called a “gold show”, which is a show that people tip a certain amount each (buying a ticket, basically) to watch. You set the timer for the amount of time you want to hype the gold show and encourage members to join and watch. You also choose the length of the gold show, and your goal to start the show, although you can choose to start it if you haven’t reached your goal yet, it is up to you. Gold shows are a great way to get a little more visibility on the site, and get viewers who might not be able to afford your per-minute rate, but they can afford $5 to watch a 5 minute gold show.

When I last worked on Streamate, a few models were using the site in a more social way, as if it were more similar to freemium sites, by doing many gold shows and encouraging members to stay and stick around for each show.

I know that I have been open about my bias for Streamate and the premium model in general, so let me offer the opinion of models who prefer freemium. I have heard some models say that SM makes them feel like a piece of meat. Wham-bam-thank you ma’am, without people appreciating your personality much. That’s fine for me, but some people hate it.

Here are some other freemium sites I know of but have not used:
CamSoda
Cam4
Bongacams

Skype

Skype shows are pretty straight forward. You sell the show directly to the customer who prepays up front using your preferred payment method, or tips you on one of your video selling sites. I would say that 10 minute shows are the most common. Study other girls pricing and see what you think would work for you. Many models who use traditional cam sites and clip sites offer Skype sessions as well, though not all. Not all platforms allow you to advertise them. It can be a great supplemental income, especially if you have a following already, like on instagram or twitter. Beware of people asking for a “preview”. Never do a show without getting paid for it first. I don’t even add people on Skype unless they pay for the show first, otherwise they will probably just harass and try to get free shit until you block them. Another note about payments, don’t use Paypal because it’s so easy for clients to chargeback, and Paypal is very not sexworker friendly. And don’t trust it when people buy you things from your Amazon wishlist until that item is in your living room, as people can easily cancel the order and you might not ever know that, it will still show as “purchased” on your wishlist.

The third method of webcamming is advertising Skype shows on other sites, the two main ones are Cammodel Directory (CMD) and Skyprivate. Skyprivate is unique in that it is a program that allows people to be charged per minute, even though you are using Skype for video calls. It’s been a long time since I used this platform, so I don’t have much info to offer about it at this time.

Cammodel Directory does not have an extra program to use with them, clients pay up front using the website based on the rates you offer on your profile and the length and type of Skype show they would like.

Many models use a couple of methods. They might cam actively on Streamate or Myfreecams for 4 hours 5 nights a week, and then have Cammodel Directory turned on while they edit videos or clean their house. The most important thing to do before you go live is to watch lots of cam streams (do tip if you can!) to pick up on how it’s done, from the range of prices people charge, to the services they offer, and the general culture of the website. I recommend not basing your study on the very top models on the site, because your beginning experience will be very different then their established and super successful experience. You might think that these girls are looking a bit lazy now, and that being a cam model is easy work! But in reality they put in the hard work months or years ago, and they were also lucky enough to be bolstered by consistent and generous regulars.

Some general notes about webcamming: anyone can and will record your feed. It doesn’t matter if you are on Skype, or Chaturbate, or Snapchat for that matter. Third party programs can be used to record the sound and video of whatever you are doing. These videos can and do end up on porn tube sites. If this is a deal breaker for you, then camming is not for you. Sorry to be blunt, but the amount of girls I have seen twitter who didn’t understand this is shocking. It is good to keep in mind if you are thinking ofbreaking a boundary of yours once, during a very private Skype session, that that video could wind up on Pornhub with 500,000 views.

Another note, never feel bad about blocking people who try to manipulate you, troll you, or insult you. Do not feel like you owe everyone everything. If someone used to tip you some but now they give you a sob story every single day instead and still demand a lot of your attention, block and move on. It isn’t worth your energy.

Finally, taxes. All cam sites file taxes and have on record how much you made with them that year. You will have to pay taxes on that money. Save 25-30% specifically for taxes so that you aren’t hurting when tax time comes around.

Lastly, while not mainly cam sites, the websites Manyvids, Modelcentro, AVN stars, Niteflirt and Onlyfans also offer ways to stream online, but I have not had much experience doing so. My next write up will be about various clip sites and how to use them!

10 questions NOT to ask a hired escort

shutterstock_629006642

Dating has tricky bits, whether your date is a woman you met a coffee shop or a lady you’ve summoned from the Internet to compensate for her time. As a whole, we escorts are a warm and charming bunch, but certain questions can garner unpleasant reactions. You’ll surely know a few of these, but some questions might surprise you! I’m sure you mean well and I don’t want you sitting in front of this babe and eating your foot instead of the hors d’oeuvres. So without further ado, here are 10 questions NOT to ask your date.

You all know the main question to avoid when talking to a sex worker, and if not than thank Jebus I’m here to tell you:

1. Don’t ask a sex worker her real name. This is a 5 star fuck up for obvious reasons. Don’t ask it on the first date, the 3rd date, or the 30th date. This is her most sensitive information. If she wants to tell you she will, but most likely she won’t. Don’t be offended, it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with keeping herself safe by minimizing the number of people who know of both of her identities. If you ask her this question, actually any question on this list, be prepared for her to either get upset with you, or just tell you a lie.

2. “What is the worst thing that has happened to you in sex work/What was your worst client like?” The point of hiring a companion for a nice evening is to relax, and add some brightness to your week! She is doing her best to make that possible. Asking her to recount ugly things that have happened to her (whether they are failed tours, rude clients, or god forbid, something worse) isn’t fair to her. Don’t seek out her troubles as entertainment.

3. “What does your family think?” Sex work is a stigmatized job and it’s tempting to want to know how a particular sex worker fairs with that stigma. I get it. I’m curious and love knowing the answer to that question too. But the answer is extremely personal, and seldom pretty. Few people want to talk about family drama. Do you want to discuss how your family views certain aspects of your own career?

4. “Do you have a boyfriend or husband?” Messy topic! Let her keep her social and sex life to herself.

5. “Do you have kids?” This is a nice little pairing to the above question. Many escorts prefer to keep their motherhood secret for personal reasons or for the safety of their children.

6. “What are you going to do when you have to quit?” This question is has several layers of ick, like a poop tier cake. First, the connotation of this question suggests that you believe you can “age out” of sex work. There are successful sex workers in their 60s and 70’s, believe it or not. There are clients for everyone. Second, her retirement or post-sex work plans are most likely something she’d like to keep to herself.

7. “Will I/can I be the first client or your tour or day?” Gross! Making this request implies to her that’s she dirty and doesn’t know how to manage her schedule, hygiene, or energy levels. It also makes you look ignorant as many sex workers prefer longer appointments, rarely scheduling more than one client per day. Let her do her job, you do yours.

8. “Is this your only job?” While it can seem like small talk, this question is a social faux pas. Maybe she’s a therapist, teacher, or studying for her MD and wants to keep that side of her private. Or maybe she’s a career sex worker and she doesn’t want to be judged for it. The whorearchy is real and weird, ya’ll.

9. “What college did you go to?” Normal small talk when meeting a new friend, but not great for someone who is trying to keep their identity secret. Because you most likely aren’t trying to garner information in which to stalk me, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, but it still isn’t a good look.

10. “Where did you get your hair or nails done?” Really, this question is the same as “Where do you go to the gym?” Most companions have a preferred salon they frequent, possibly near their house, and would prefer not to tell you the places they visit on their down time. Without thinking about it, it’s hard to see how this innocent question could be a misstep, which is why I wouldn’t judge you too harshly for asking it.

For one reason or another, all 10 of these questions are just too private to expect an answer to. Keep to light and impersonal topics and your professional relationship is sure to flow smoothly from a great introduction to a lovely on-going arrangement. In my next few articles I will tell you questions escorts love to receive when booking, and good questions to ask on your date!

How to Bring Pegging into Your Relationship

spareparts harness

This piece is written for people who would love to be pegged and need some clarity around broaching the topic and act in their relationships. I originally wrote this post for Manyvids blog, so if you’d prefer to read it there, click here.

I’m a big fan of pegging. To give you an idea how big of a fan I am, in my store you’ll find 4 different pegging videos and only 2 regular sex videos. What can I say? It excites me, and I’m not the only one. I’ve noticed that quite a few guys are into the idea of having their ass fucked with a strap on. As a porn model, I’ve been asked how a guy could broach this topic with his girlfriend or wife many times. So here is my advice:

First, make sure you’re close enough to talk about this kind of thing. If you don’t have good sexual communication, that’s the first place to start. If you both feel comfortable talking about different fantasies you have, you’re at a comfort level where you can bring up pegging. Introduce the topic slowly. If she hasn’t used a finger or two in your ass yet, start by expressing an interest in trying that sometime. Once that’s been happening in the bedroom, gently bring up the idea of strap on play. Tell her how hot you’d find it, and how you’re excited to experiment more with your prostate (aka, basically the male g-spot). Because we live in an odd society that places a lot of unhelpful ideas on masculinity, you might need to assure her that ass play has nothing to do with sexuality. Straight guys can enjoy prostate play too. If you’re not straight, but bisexual, hopefully you’ve come out before bringing this up, as this is a topic that should be discussed on it’s own.

When it comes to hardware, you might have to drop some cash to get a harness that both fits snugly and is durable. Don’t be persuaded by cheap harnesses (ones that cost under $50). Good brands will be generally between $60 and $130. The SpareParts Joque harness is the golden standard, it comes in several colors and sizes for right around $100. If you absolutely need to go cheap, be sure to do your research with reviews first. You want a harness that is going to feel solid to her, and give her more confidence with her movements, not one that is going to flop around and be frustrating to work with, as this won’t be fun for anyone. A quality harness will last for years and years, so think of it like an investment.

Many dildos are compatible with these “O-ring” style harnesses. Look for ones with a flared base (so it doesn’t seep through the hole on the harness) and no added testicles for more compatibility. Unless you’re a veteran when it comes to anal penetration, get a smaller dildo then you think you’ll need. A thick dick with a nice head might sound very appealing, but I can guarantee you that unless you’ve put in the hours to get yourself used to toys like this, the width and the ridges will feel much, much larger when they’re in your ass. For the novice, I’d recommend something smooth, with a thickness no larger than 2.5 inches. A gentle upward curve might feel more comfortable than one that sticks straight out. High quality dildos are silicone, and will be durable and body-safe. Try to avoid “jelly” toys, or toys with phthalates. If you have to skimp on something, the harness or the dildo, you can get a cheaper dildo as long as you use a condom with it every time, as cheaper materials could be porous or contain harmful chemicals.

It’s time to play! Before you begin, make sure you’re clean. This means take a shower and spend extra time cleaning your ass. A lot of people recommend enemas, but these can actually leave water in your system to come out when you’re not expecting it. Just clean the outside. If you want to be sure everything is empty inside, stick your finger back there and check things out. You should be doing that anyway, because a little warm up is necessary! Before filming our pegging videos, my filming partner takes a long shower with his favorite butt plug, stretching his ass out a bit and getting it prepared for strap on play. You can do this all yourself, or your partner can be a part of the process by eating your ass and/or using her fingers on you. You’ll feel when your hole is loosened and ready to be penetrated.

Use lube! So much lube. More lube than you think you’ll ever need. Finger a bit into your ass, rub it around the hole, cover the dildo with it. Make sure you’re using a water based lube, as they are safer for use with most toys. Lay on your back, it will feel a lot better than doggy style for your first time. Push the toy into your ass yourself, so you can control the depth and speed it goes in. Once it’s in, she can start moving her hips. Have her go slowly and gently at first. Communicate your needs clearly, if you need her to just use the tip for a little awhile, say so! If it’s feeling great and you want more, tell her! Stroke your dick while she’s fucking you, a lot men need this kind of stimulation to not be overwhelmed by the pegging. If you’re doing it on your back, it gives her a nice little show as well.

After you’ve finished (and revived from your passed out state, lol) be really supportive of your partner! She just put herself out there and tried something new for you and might be feeling a bit exposed. Tell her how much you enjoyed yourself and how thankful you are that she was open to experiencing this with you!
